How i will encourage Girl's Education when i go back

                  I think my position, as a female teacher is a good example of a positive role model that can inspire girls in their education. As South Sudan has gone through a serious issue of girl drop out, I think the best way that I can use to encourage girl’s education is through the syllabus. I will develop an engaging curriculum that includes diversity and relevant issues to Gender by introducing lessons that talk about the success girls from other country have achieve through education and also use many educative programs that were done by school girls of other countries inform of activities so as to attract them. I will design activities that will much base on student centered. Although the student centered might not be effective sometimes, but I will emphasis much on cooperative activities where they will be divided in to groups and each person in the group will present to the other group and vise visa so that all the shy girls will participate in the class. Lastly, I will not just consider my self as a teacher but a best friend with motherly love and always motivate, appreciate and encourage them in their work.
So friends don’t you think adding diversity in our lessons can be another way of inspiring girl’s education?

My plans when I return to South Sudan

              As we know South Sudan already has its educational system, my plans when I go back is first to review the policy that exist and then see how to improve it, I will focus on the weakness and see how I can help in making it a better opportunity for teaching and learning then I will participate effectively in its development and act as an agent of change .I will contribute in the curriculum development and introduce the different teaching methodologies that will help in making effective teaching, I will also be a role model to the women and ladies in that state and play a big role in the community development by empowering women and making them engage in different activities that will also contribute to the nation building especially  by making English trainings for Arabic speakers.
                   While at the university level I will  play a vital role in departmental decisions and help in designing the curriculum that will meet the needs of the students and introduce the learners center method regardless of the class size because the lessons I have learned from Indiana University has build and developed my professional skills and has prepared me to be a creative teacher, flexible, resourceful, open minded and tolerant.

So ladies, don’t you think the lessons we have learned from Indiana University have really prepared us for making change in the educational system of South Sudan?

Impact of conflict in secondary education in south sudan

The conflict in South Sudan has negatively affected the educational system of the country in general and specifically the secondary education.This was seriously mark with the tragedy incident of Dec,15 2013 in which the students sitting for the secondary certificate where affected and the exams of that year is not value in south Sudan and is consider to be fake and even in some countries like Khartoum. The conflict has resulted in to interruption of educational system in most states in South Sudan which were affected  and the students from those states were force to displace to other  states in order to continue with their education.Most families with good financial status has to send their children to the neighboring countries to continue with their schools in a good learning atmosphere.The conflict does not only make interruption in educational system in some states in south Sudan but it generally affected the schools calendar of the whole country because schools at large in south Sudan don't have a fixed calendar and thats a very bad reputation for the educational system  of the country.Some schools open in Feb while most open in May the same thing in higher institutions . The conflict has cause instability to most students in secondary schools because sitting for the secondary certificate needs peace of mind and this conflict has let to their poor academic performance which may affect them badly when joining the university thats why most students prefer to go to the neighboring countries but those who cant afford end up either continuing in such situation or dropout.So what i think the 14 of us can do after completing the program beside the conflict in the country is just to help in the part of designing a fixed calendar so that all schools can look the same and have a smart educational system.So friends what do you think about this suggestion or is their any alternative we can use to help in the adjustment of secondary education of South Sudan regardless of the conflict taking place?

The Hull house

Chicago is an amazing and beautiful city in the centre of united states, its one of the biggest world class city that is historically rich.Base on my visit to the hull house i was attracted with the historical portraits and about the way Jean aAdams was so generous to the poor people.What i have discovered about the hull house is that its not only a settlement house providing a space and opportunity for people but a site for research as well.
According to the little information i knew about the hull house , i liked the way Jean Adams was having time with her friends in the dining table that is  one of the best values of an exemplary leader(collaboration).So what i really learnt from my visit in the hull house that will be of benefit to south Sudan is about what Jean said of the new generation  to break the old law of how women are seen.She said in this generation women has to be seen as professional especially the educated one, she is trying to talk about Gender equity.
I think the 14 of us can be the experiment of the new generation flowing out there as professional women of south Sudan not to be seen  just  as women , hopefully after this masters program we have to go and share equal responsibility with men on the nations building and we are going to make use of the knowledge we have learnt to change and develop  our country. So pals what are your opinion about Jean Adams idea of breaking the old law of being just a women. Don't you think after the program we can  equally be  professional to men?

Midwest Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society{CIES}

Reflecting back to the conference, I was much impressed by the presentation of Dr. Lee about Teachers and Teacher Education and especially the topic Teachers of minorities as Agents of change: I think the topic concerns us a lot as future leaders and the presenter focus on the role a teacher does to make change. She said a teacher can contribute a lot in peace building and especially women teachers can lead or teach well, she added that a qualify teacher can act as agent of change firstly by making the change in him/herself and become an advocacy, secondly he can make change on students academic success and in educational system whereby he can make the school as a place of transformation and make appropriate changes in the curriculum that fits the school. So I feel like the presentation was done for the 14 of us to be the agents of change in south Sudan after completing our Masters program and take the knowledge and skills we are going to obtain. So ladies don’t you think we can be the change makers of South Sudan beside all the challenges we will face?

How to develop South Sudan history curriculum.

History is what makes us understand about people and open our minds to different possibility. According to my suggestion I think we should use the balance approach of which we don’t teach everything, the students will get some of the information from their community perspectives while the role of school is to plant in their minds the heart of togetherness {we are the same} by focusing on the political development and welfare of the country and excluding the parts of war {conflicts} and the things that focus most on division which may again cause tribal prejudice then we teach them the effects of violence.
We can use examples from other countries to show them how to live so as to develop their national identity also. Finally we should teach history for a common good and encourage our students to visit places like the museums and historical sites to learn more about the country. I don’t know how the idea of museum and historical sites will help in the development of South Sudan history curriculum.
