The Hull house

Chicago is an amazing and beautiful city in the centre of united states, its one of the biggest world class city that is historically rich.Base on my visit to the hull house i was attracted with the historical portraits and about the way Jean aAdams was so generous to the poor people.What i have discovered about the hull house is that its not only a settlement house providing a space and opportunity for people but a site for research as well.
According to the little information i knew about the hull house , i liked the way Jean Adams was having time with her friends in the dining table that is  one of the best values of an exemplary leader(collaboration).So what i really learnt from my visit in the hull house that will be of benefit to south Sudan is about what Jean said of the new generation  to break the old law of how women are seen.She said in this generation women has to be seen as professional especially the educated one, she is trying to talk about Gender equity.
I think the 14 of us can be the experiment of the new generation flowing out there as professional women of south Sudan not to be seen  just  as women , hopefully after this masters program we have to go and share equal responsibility with men on the nations building and we are going to make use of the knowledge we have learnt to change and develop  our country. So pals what are your opinion about Jean Adams idea of breaking the old law of being just a women. Don't you think after the program we can  equally be  professional to men?

Midwest Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society{CIES}

Reflecting back to the conference, I was much impressed by the presentation of Dr. Lee about Teachers and Teacher Education and especially the topic Teachers of minorities as Agents of change: I think the topic concerns us a lot as future leaders and the presenter focus on the role a teacher does to make change. She said a teacher can contribute a lot in peace building and especially women teachers can lead or teach well, she added that a qualify teacher can act as agent of change firstly by making the change in him/herself and become an advocacy, secondly he can make change on students academic success and in educational system whereby he can make the school as a place of transformation and make appropriate changes in the curriculum that fits the school. So I feel like the presentation was done for the 14 of us to be the agents of change in south Sudan after completing our Masters program and take the knowledge and skills we are going to obtain. So ladies don’t you think we can be the change makers of South Sudan beside all the challenges we will face?

How to develop South Sudan history curriculum.

History is what makes us understand about people and open our minds to different possibility. According to my suggestion I think we should use the balance approach of which we don’t teach everything, the students will get some of the information from their community perspectives while the role of school is to plant in their minds the heart of togetherness {we are the same} by focusing on the political development and welfare of the country and excluding the parts of war {conflicts} and the things that focus most on division which may again cause tribal prejudice then we teach them the effects of violence.
We can use examples from other countries to show them how to live so as to develop their national identity also. Finally we should teach history for a common good and encourage our students to visit places like the museums and historical sites to learn more about the country. I don’t know how the idea of museum and historical sites will help in the development of South Sudan history curriculum.

My first Experience in Indiana

Bloomington is a nice and quite place with a lot of   kind  and lovely people who always show smiling faces. They look friendly  but are always busy, it seems like they don't have time to stand and shake hands like what most blacks do back home they only say Hi. They are always busy and  care less about others.

My similar experience to Dr. Julia is about the academic part a lot of work  where given and even some times I can't  finish work on time. A lot of readings and the nice part is about the Reflection which is a new type of learning I was not familiar with.I sometimes ask the same question of Dr. Julia saying did the Professors really know that we have allot of readings but I don't get an answer to myself.

My different experience to Dr Julia is  that, she came to Indiana  with her family due to the political situation  of 1983 and also joining her husband who was here for studies. She came with an intention of not going {permanent}  back but mine is just for scholarship {temporary}and without my family.
